Head Coach

BrianBrian Welsh is a British Triathlon Association level 3 coach & tutor (ie he teaches other would be coaches). As well as being a UK Athletics level 2 coach, Total Immersion & ASA swim coach. He has raced for Great Britain, was a member of the world record breaking round Australia bike team and completed several Ironman triathlons. He led the first UK mixed team to finish (and win the category) in the 3000 mile Race Across America in 2004. More recently he led another mixed team to first finishing in Letourdirect (the Tour de France - non stop). Athletes coached by Brian have enjoyed success in numerous triathlon world championships (including captaining the GB ladies team), worldwide Ironman races, the RAAM, KIMM, other national & local championships. Brian is also employed by Derby Triathlon Club who won the UK championship for a record 5th time in 2005.

AndrewAndrew Shaw , I have been very active from the age of 10, when I started orienteering which I have won many regional age classes and been part of the team that won the British Relay championships. I have also run many cross country races including Yorkshire, Northern England and National championships, as well as doing diverse sports such as speed skating, windsurfing, canoeing and downhill mountain biking. In 2001 I entered by first triathlon finishing 133rd out of 145! I steadily improved and went on to win by first triathlon in 2005, I also went to the ETU age group championship that year finishing 7th in my age group. Following this I went to the ITU World age group championships in Hamburg 2007 and Vancouver 2008. In 2007 I passed by level 1 BTF coaching certificate and I have been coaching with Brian and the JSNT team since 2007. I mainly bike coach both on the road and in the gym though use of a compu-trainer, but cover all aspects of triathlon.
