Brian Welsh is a British Triathlon Association level 3 coach & tutor.
He has raced for Great Britain at age group level in triathlon.
He was a member of the world record breaking round Australia bike team and completed more than 10 Ironman triathlons. He led the first UK mixed team to finish (and win the category) in the 3000 mile Race Across America in 2004.
More recently he led another mixed team to first finishing in Letourdirect (the Tour de France – nonstop). Brian has now done 4 RAAM’s 2 x 4 person teams, 1 x mixed team with his wife in 2008 and solo in 2011. He is looking to go solo again in 2013.
Brian coaches athletes from novices to athletes who win their age groups in both Olympic distance and IM. His athletes have picked up numerous medals at World Age Group Championships in both Triathlon and Duathlon, long and short distances.
Brian’s belief is that everyone can achieve, however it takes hard work and dedication. He came out of a successful career in logistics to coach therefore has strong views on who he will and will not coach. The first rule being that he would not coach someone he would not go for a drink with.
Brian’s philosophy is that everyone can improve. We all surprise ourselves, when we work hard. I am very much a believer in the 10,000 hours or 10 years rule.
